Tuesday - Saturday 11am - 5pm
Cat Outram was born in 1959 in Nairobi, Kenya, a country her father's family have lived in since the early 1900s. She emigrated to the UK in 1966, settling in Edinburgh. She went to school in Edinburgh and attended Edinburgh College of Art from 1977 to 1981, studying Drawing and Painting.
In 1989, Outram qualified for the Enterprise Allowance scheme, which she achieved as a Printmaker, becoming officially professional in 1990.
Since then, she has exhibited regularly in galleries in and around Edinburgh, and has become one of the most distinctive printmakers in Scotland, whose works have frequently been included in members shows at Edinburgh Printmakers, the SSA and many other exhibitions.
"My inspiration is light. It is usually the first thing to catch my eye: details caught in sunlight or long shadows. After that I love fine details, the texture and shape of things. Most of my work falls into one of these catagories: views of Edinburgh, flowers, or collections of favorite objects." - Cat Outram
